Make sure you do not become a caffeine addict in your quest to stay awake and energized. It will yet catch up with you, making you anxious and irritable. You will see babies react to your emotions, and will also become apprehensive and irritable.

Do whatever you must in order to get enough sleep. If this means letting the house go while you catch a nap, then do so. Take turns with the other adult in the house. If there is not another adult, then do not be abashed to ask for help from family and friends. The baby will get into a normal routine pretty quickly if you allow it to. Do not hold the baby as it sleeps. Put it down for nap or bedtime. An established routine will control choice sleep for everyone!

You and baby are top priority right now. While new babies are quite popular, don’t tire you and your baby out from visitors. Let family and friends know when it’s a great time to visit, and when it’s not such a great time. Everyone will understand and, if not, then their day is coming. Also, if person is ill, this is not the time to want to hold the baby or be around you. Ask them to reschedule when they are well. Again, they should understand. Keep your schedule flexible. Trying too soon to get back into the flow of things can be very frustrating. It takes time to realize the how babies change the bent in our lives.

Realize that your emotions, along with your hormones, are on one heck of ride right now. So, do not beat yourself up during the moments when you question why you ever thought you wanted to be a parent. Emotions can be fast and furious. One moment you love every little finger and toe, and the next moment you are mourning over the loss of your freedom. Its normal and a signal that you will ultimately find balance in your life. Remember, if you feel stressed, getting outside is a quick picker upper! Babies need sunlight to grow and thrive. Sunshine adds Vitamin D to the body. So, put the sunscreen on you and baby and get out. Call a friend, go for a walk.

It appears to be that the newborn infant days pass fast. In a few weeks you will find you and baby in a whole new phase, where every day is a new beginning in loving and caring for your baby. Don’t forget other relationships. You can now begin to contain them even more into your new ones life, as your family grows and expands. Make time for other children and your mate. Babies thrive on one big happy family being together!
